Measuring for net curtains requires two measurements, the width
of your window and the drop of your window. Please decide
whether to measure in inches or cm and stick to the same
throughout to avoid mistakes.
Drop
To measure the drop of your window, measure from the top of
the window recess down to the windowsill, or ledge. You must
then work out the standard drop that best suits your measurements.
Alternatively, you can have your drop custom made for a perfect fit.
Width
To measure the width of your window, measure inside of the window
recess from wall to wall. You will need to decide how much gather
you would like on your curtain. The popular choice is to double
your width, but you may decide you want more for a fuller look for
added privacy. Please see the images below to help you decide.
Then it is as simple as x 2, x 2.5 or x 3 your width.
Examples
Here are examples of how to calculate the amount of net curtain
you will need. We are doubling the width here.
Measuring in inches
Window width is 72” wide: 72 x 2 = 144”
To convert the 144” inches into metres you will need to divide it by 39.
144” divided by 39 = 3.69 round up so you will require 4m.
Measuring in cm
Window width is 194cm
194 x 2 = 388 round up so you will need 4m.
